Accounts and bookkeeping
Accurate records, accounts filed on time, and numbers you can actually make decisions from.
What this covers
Every limited company has to file a set of statutory accounts at Companies House and a copy with its corporation tax return. Sole traders and partnerships need accounts to support their tax returns. That is the compliance floor, and we clear it without drama: we tell you what we need, we chase it once, and we file ahead of the deadline rather than on it.
The more useful part is what sits underneath. Bookkeeping that is kept current means your VAT is right, your payroll reconciles, and you can see what the business is doing while there is still time to act on it. Bookkeeping left until the year-end means a rushed clean-up, a larger bill and decisions made nine months late.
What you get
- Statutory year-end accounts prepared under FRS 102 or FRS 105, whichever fits
- Filing at Companies House and the accounts copy for your tax return
- Bookkeeping on Xero or QuickBooks, weekly, monthly or quarterly
- Bank, card and payment-provider reconciliations kept current
- Sales and purchase ledger, credit control support if you want it
- Management accounts with commentary, monthly or quarterly
- Confirmation statement and registered office filings if you need them
- A pre-year-end review so there are no surprises in the final numbers
How we work
Most clients send us bank feeds and receipts digitally, so nothing arrives in a carrier bag in January. We reconcile as we go, raise questions while you still remember the answer, and give you a draft set of accounts to talk through before anything is filed. You see the numbers and understand them before they become public.
If your records are behind, say so at the consultation. Catch-up work is common and we will quote it separately and clearly, rather than letting it inflate a monthly fee.
Who this suits
Limited companies of any size, sole traders and partnerships, landlords with more than a couple of properties, and anyone who has outgrown doing it themselves in a spreadsheet.
Common questions
Accounts and bookkeeping
Do I have to use Xero or QuickBooks?
No, but we work fastest in those two and most of our clients are on one of them. If you use something else we will tell you honestly whether moving is worth the disruption.
Can you take over mid-year?
Yes. We obtain your records from your previous accountant, reconcile the position to date and carry on from there.
What if my bookkeeping is a long way behind?
It happens more than you would think. We quote catch-up work as a separate one-off piece so you can see exactly what it costs.
Will you deal with Companies House for me?
Yes. We file the accounts and can handle the confirmation statement and other routine filings as part of the engagement.
